We love mountain biking at Life Dreams, and we love watching the pros do their thing. Their incredible feats keep us enthralled year after year, and we look up to them as incredible sportsmen and women.

 

In no particular order, here are 20 of the best mountain bikers in the world right now.

 

Pavel Alekhin

 

The Russian is a well-known figure in the MTB freeride scene, appearing at international slopestyle and dirt jump events. He’s known for riding brakeless and for his impressive combinations at contests.

Simon Andreassen

 

The Danish rider emerged on the scene in recent years as one of the top talents. He has already picked up a few world and national titles, and he has put in some stunning performances at XC events. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

Gee Artherton

 

A big name since he was 15 years old, Artherton won the Downhill World Cup in 2004 at just 19 years old, an incredible achievement. He won the National Championships in the same year, and won gold in the 2008 World Championship.

Rachel Artherton

 

Rachel Artherton was named Times Young Sportswoman of the Year in 2005, and she went on to win World Championship gold in 2008. She missed the 2009 season due to a road accident, but was back the next year, and she has four UCI World Cup titles.

Henrique Avancini

 

The Brazilian was born near to Rio de Janeiro and got his first bike at 8, which was made from a recycled older bike. He learned his skills riding in the countryside, and won the national championships in Brazil in all the categories, the first person to do so. He also won the Brazilian title in 2013, his tenth cross-country title.

Emily Batty

 

Born in Ontario, Emily’s family were crazy about mountain biking, and she turned her hobby into a career. A regular on the World Cup circuit, she finished second in the 2012 World Cup opening round, and second at the 2014 Cairns World Cup. She also won the Elite National Champion title in 2013.

Nick Beer

 

Nick went pro aged 19 in 2007, and in 2009 he won the iXS European Downhill Mountain Bike title. He has been named Swiss national champion many times, and he has one numerous titles over the years.

Yana Belomonia

 

Yana tried Velobike when she was a child and became hooked. The MTB cross-country rider from Ukraine now has lots of victories and cups to her name, and there are plenty more to come.

Darren Berrecloth

 

Darren is from Parksville, Canada, and is one of the world’s best freeride mountain bikers. He came third in the 2002 Red Bull Rampage and has never looked back. He broke his back in 2011, but amazingly was back in action the following year.

Loïc Bruni

 

Loïc’s father was a big star in downhill mountain biking who won many titles in his career, and Loïc followed in his footsteps, becoming French junior champion in 2011. He got on the podium in the Elite World Cup in 2012, while still a junior, and later won the junior World Championship.

Marco Fontana

 

One of the best cross-country riders in Italy, Marco started competing at the tender age of 11 and was Junior Cross Country champion in Italy when he was only 18. Has gone onto bigger and better things since, including a bronze medal at the Olympics in 2012.

Thomas Genon

 

The Belgian rider had a fantastic season in 2012, winning the Red Bull Joyride at Crankworx. He has followed up with numerous podium finishes since then, including winning the Swatch Rocket Air Slopestyle in 2015.

Szymon Godziek

 

Szymon is a great performer who consistently gets results. He’s got a number of wins in his home country, Poland, including the Sfera Sportu Dirt Jumping Cup, and he is now getting international recognition.

Yannick Granieri

 

Yannick has always been surrounded by bikes seeing as his grandfather made bikes. He used to be a gymnast, and this helps him pull off tricks, and he has lots of international wins so far in his career.

Marcelo Guttierez

 

Marcelo first rode a BMX when he was three, and he tried downhill when he was 10. This became his main focus, and the Colombian is also excellent at urban downhill.

Aaron Gwin

 

Aaron started out in BMX and motocross, but he turned to downhill in 2008. The American topped the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup series and has won numerous world titles.

Matt Jones

 

Matt first broke onto the international scene aged 18. The British rider grew up riding bikes, and in 2013 he won Farm Jam in New Zealand. He’s also picked up plenty of top 10 finishes.

Bianca Haw

 

Bianca grew up around bikes because her father was behind some of the biggest races in their native South Africa, including the Imana Wild Ride. She has already won the South African Junior XCO title and others.

Peter Henke

 

Peter started riding aged nine, and his first competition was in 2006. He turned pro in 2011, aged just 17, and the German has since got lots of recognition for his achievements.

Growing up in Canada, Finn came from an active family who loved bikes. He won the Whip Off World Championships at Whistler at age 14 after he needed permission to enter because he was too young, and he has gone onto achieve great things since.
